A rehearsed reading of a new play. A remote North West beef farm under huge financial pressure is thrown into chaos when the cows start speaking. A darkly comic look at a Britain on the edge of climate breakdown, 'Goodbye Cow' is about the lengths a person will go to to maintain an unsustainable status quo, even when destruction is staring them right in the face.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

Will Bishop

Previously, Sibylla, Saskia and I worked together on 'I Have Heard You Calling in the Night' at the Union Theatre in 2021, which was a tremendous success. I then worked with Sibylla again on 'Anadiplosis' as part of 'This Be The Verse: a trio of short plays' in 2022, and Saskia again on the short film version of 'I Have Heard You Calling in the Night'. In this piece, we're aiming to reach a broader audience, with work that is challenging, thought-provoking, and, above all entertaining.

CAST & CREATIVE CREDITS:

Will Bishop is a writer from the North West, based in London. In 2022, he wrote 'Anadiplosis' (Hen & Chickens). Mostly he writes alongside Colm Gleeson; in 2021, they wrote and performed 'I Have Heard You Calling in the Night' (Union Theatre), which was then turned into an award-winning short film. He has just completed The Royal Court's playwriting group.

Saskia Baylis is a producer based in London. Producer credits include 'Sorry We Didn’t Die At Sea' (Seven Dials Playhouse), 'I Have Heard You Calling in the Night' (Union Theatre) and 'Maklena' (UK Tour).

Sibylla Archdale Kalid is a director based in London. She is Associate Director on 'Lord of the Rings' (Watermill Theatre) and is developing a BSL-integrated show for children, supported by Arts Council England. Directing credits include: 'This Be The Verse' (Hen & Chickens), and 'I Have Heard You Calling in the Night' (Union Theatre). She has an MA in Directing from LAMDA.

A Pinch of VAULT is a festival of brand new and work-in-progress performance. Shows will be at varying stages of development, including rehearsed readings with script in hand, first time on its feet or semi-staged.
